If you think you might benefit from this service, I’d love to hear from you.
Daily stressors can make our lens for life dusty and cracked. We find ourselves looking through these faulty lenses and wondering, “Why can’t I see straight?” Our good intentions tell us to “Lean forward, look harder!” and then we wonder “Why am I so exhausted?” Our Have-It-All mentality chimes in, “Just keep going; you can sleep when you’re dead!” and ironically, we’re slowly killing ourselves as we strive to carve out time more in our days to acquire achievements incongruent with our true desires.
All that hard work and yet an exhaustion and emptiness lingers.
Firmly planted in our physiology is the need for restoration and renewal. When we do not allow time for rest, we put ourselves at risk for cognitive impairment, emotional imbalance, and physical disease.
Restorative yoga whispers, “Let me be a safe space while you rest and catch your breath. Then, my dear, we’ll figure everything out.”
Restorative yoga is not magic. It’s simply a practice–a series of postures designed to move the body into parasympathetic dominance and heal itself. In areas of the body that have become tense or hardened, we practice softening and creating space. By practicing observing the mind, we allow ourselves the opportunity to access higher order thinking which can often lead to more creative problem solving. By allowing space for emotions to emerge, we practice being with our emotions, rather than stuffing them down until they make us sick.
When we take the time to clean and repair our cracked lenses, we’ve refined our ability to clearly see what is in front of us and proceed with more intentionality and focus. With this refined focus, we move towards the kind of life that is aligned with what we actually want and do so in a way that feels more energizing and fulfilling.
I meet with people 1:1 (online and in the Denver area) to consult on and refine their restorative yoga practice. In our time together, we will construct a restorative yoga practice that will most suit your needs. I will consult with you on alignment, props, and home practice. For yoga teachers, I am available to consult on how to integrate restorative yoga into your current teachings and teach you some new restorative poses and modifications you may find helpful to integrate into your classes or with students needing modifications.
